Fall 2013 Plans

What are we up to for our 13th session?

We begin writing Sep 19, Thursday at 2pm at Carnegie Community Centre. That marks the officialy beginning of “Piece Work”, our project for the 2013/14 year. We will be creating individual chapbooks and printing them for individual sale and a collaborative “boxed set.”

During the fall we will research and discuss and generate material with guest authors Ken Belford and Nick Flynn. In the spring we plan to edit, hone, format our work into individual stapled-spine books for approximately 32 pages each. Kevin Spenst, an editor with Thursdays Editing Collective, who has three of his own chapbooks coming out this fall with presses, will join us for some practical instruction. All of this, of course, contingent on Canada Council for the Arts continued support!

We also have some events in the works:

-We’ll be reading from The Stanza Project at  The Paper Hound Bookshop at 344 East Pender, this fall. They recently began selling The Stanza Project; copies of V6A are for sale there too. (Dates to come.)

Heart of the City Festival – the Downtown Eastside’s arts and culture festival takes place Oct 23- Nov 4, 2013 at venues throughout the neighbourhood.  (Date and location to come.)

– Thursdays Writing Collective will have a table at WORD Vancouver, the literary festival at Vancouver Public Library. Thank you to SFU’s Writing and Publishing Program for supporting us!

– Henry Doyle and My Name Is Scot will read from V6A at Library Workers CUPE 391, Sunday Sep 29 at 12:30.

We hope to see you at the writing table or at some of these events!
