A Poem Flying Away

Two weeks ago we passed around a postcard poem by Anna Swanson and the idea spawned this poem by John Alan Douglas. Anna’s poem left my hand on wings of its own (where is it?) but I remember her Postcard Poem, printed on manila card stock and useable as a postcard, mentioned birds.

Postcard Poem #1

by John Alan Douglas

This poem has amber wings

              like olden postcards

no postage stamp

              only my open heart

it flies to any readers

              upon the fickle wind

and hopefully nests

             in their avian souls.
