A welcome back poem by Anita Lo
Thursdays Writing Collective’s weekly drop-in writing sessions resumed this week (February 9). It was wonderful to be back at writing again, and also to welcome a few new faces to the group.
If you miss a session, check out our What Did We Do This Week page for ongoing writing prompts.
This poem written by Anita Lo feels befitting to kick off our 2017 Fire Rooster year of writing:
Reasons Why I Want to Write a Poem
I want to write because poems seem like water in my life
I want to write to express myself
I want to write when I am thirsty for my own soul
I want to write so I have dreams for my future
I want to write to share my ideas with people
I wan to write to feel ease when I am busy with my career
I want to write a poem to be like a new song in my ear
I want to write to so beautify images can live in my poems
I want to jump out of sorrow and into my poems
I want to write as a form of dancing
I want to write before I sleep and taste poems in my dreams
I want to write a poem as a letter to a beloved friend
I want to write to see how colours combine within a poem
I want to write and read my poems out loud to hear their emotion
I want to write when I am hungry for my own memory
When I love you, or hate you, I want to write a poem
When I believe in you, or in me, I want to write a poem
